Akron Courts to Pilot Future Plans with 80 Convicted Felons

Summit County Court participants in need of a second chance will get help in re-launching with not just a job but a career aligned with their strengths and interests. 80 participants in the program for Intervention In Lieu of Conviction (IILC) will experience a comprehensive work skills assessment, coaching, training and job placement process to put them on the path to a better tomorrow. “This program is designed to get people into meaningful work – not just into the workforce,” said Summit County Common Pleas Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands, who learned about Future Plans and suggested it be tried in the court.

It will be the first court in Northeast Ohio to pilot the program and our Future Plans team are excited for the new opportunities that these individuals get and the lasting impact it will make on the Summit County community.
